Art wins in Chihuahua Trail show
PASCALLE BIPPERT/Contributor Jeanne Allen displays her painting, “Koepp Garage on Chihuahua Street,” which earned second place in the “Overall” category. Her artwork, “Cibolo Crossing on the Gonzales Road at La Vernia,” took first-place honors in the “Cibolo Crossing” competition.

The ninth annual Chihuahua Trail Art Show & Sale drew a good crowd and produced an array of winners.

Sponsored by the La Vernia Historical Association, this year’s show was held at Studio La Vida on Chihuahua Street. The annual event benefiting the historical association drew 100 original works of art by 25 local artists. Winners include:

Theme: Cibolo Crossing: first place, Jeanne Allen, “Cibolo Crossing on the Gonzales Road at La Vernia”; second place, Martha Lenz, “Mrs. Dickinson”; third place, Winona Alder, “Susannah Dickinson”; and honorable mention, Monica Flores, “Spirit of Susanna Dickinson.”

Overall: first place, Connie Armbruster, “The Standoff”; second place, Jeanne Allen, “Koepp Garage on Chihuahua Street”; third place, Cherryl Pritts, “Texas Homestead”; honorable mentions Shelley Henderson, “Favorite Things”;Winona Alder, “Tuefai”; Leola Jahns, “Hill Country Farm”; Janelle “Nellie” Gonzales, “Autumn Fire”; Prudy Kinsel, “Sassy Sunflower”;
