Recycling dumpster vanishes

La Vernia-area residents taking their newspaper and other paper products to the receptacle near the La Vernia City Park for recycling have been bemused to discover the dumpster missing.

The dumpster, formerly located behind the La Vernia football stadium, is no longer available, according to the La Vernia Independent School District (ISD) administration.

Diane Marsh in the superintendent’s office, responding March 10 to questions from the public, said, “The company that provided this service has removed the container and will no longer provide this service for the district.”

Members of the public wishing to continue recycling their paper can take it to one of two Wilson County recycling locations:

¢Floresville Alternative Educaton Center, 335 Alternative Lane in Floresville, open daily 24/7, except holidays

¢Stockdale Elementary School, 800 S. Sixth St. in Stockdale, open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon and during the school year Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., except school holidays.

Paper isn’t the only thing that can be recycled, and there is no need to separate your paper, plastic, aluminum, or other recyclables from each other. See the list at above for what you can recycle.
