Eagle Ford forum is next week!

The La Vernia Municipal Development District (MDD) joins the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, and regional economic development allies from Cibolo, Yoakum, Cuero, Stockdale, and Gonzales to host a Governor’s Small Business Forum: Opportunities of the Eagle Ford Shale on Tuesday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the La Vernia High School auditorium, 221 F.M. 775.

“All community partners are benefiting from new and expanded businesses because of the Eagle Ford shale; this event is designed to retain our existing small business base and provide information that will help them thrive while serving a new customer base,” said Jennifer Kolbe, La Vernia MDD executive director.

Veterans, business owners/managers, prospective entrepreneurs, community leaders, and elected officials are encouraged to attend. There is no charge; attendees are required to RSVP at www.aacog.com/governorsforum.

This forum is designed to inform a small-business owner/manager on workforce development, doing business with the oil and gas industry, access to small-business capital, government procurement for woman- and minority-owned businesses, and social media techniques. The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) will present information on employee training grants and other programs.

Speakers include Hope Andrade with the Texas Workforce Commission; Dr. Tom Tunstall, director of research, Institute for Economic Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA); Terri Williams, UTSA Procurement and Technical Assistance Program Director; and social media consultant Sarah Page.

A special access to capital workshop will be held at 1:30 p.m. for attendees interested in an in-depth session with lenders who work for traditional and non- traditional business lending agencies.
