God will keep His promises

Today as we hear the news or watch television, we see the troubles in the world. Many people are dying daily around the world from violence. In our own nation, we see way too much discord. We hear of people that kill others, we hear of people that rob and destroy. We hear of way too many people that are causing problems to others, sometimes fatal problems!

We certainly don’t see the world as a place of peace and unfortunately, even our own country is not a place of peace.

But we are told in the Word of God that we have peace; how is this possible in this troubled world?

In looking to the Word of God, we have a beautiful promise in Isaiah 43:2-3, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”

This scripture was given to the people of Israel and they were told that they were precious to God and He would be with them in their days. He told them that as they passed through the water, He would be with them. He assured them that as they passed through the rivers, the rivers would not sweep over them and even if they had to walk through the fire, they would not be burned, for God was with them. His promise was that He was the Lord, their God and the Holy One of Israel, their Savior!

Can we claim these promises as followers of Christ? We have the benefit of history to know that God kept His promise to the people of Israel and He will keep His promise to protect us also! Praise His Name!

There were many times that God had to redeem the people of Israel. He did it over and over again and we can know that He will redeem us! God did not forget His people then and He will not forget His people today!

We can claim His promises; we know from reading the Word of God and seeing His beautiful hand over the Israelites that He will be with us and give us peace.

Let’s claim this in a prayer to Him:

Thank you, almighty God, for your love and your protection, for being always near to us. There are times that we are unaware of your guidance and just move on with our lives. Forgive us for not remembering Your beautiful promises.

Please give us confidence and perseverance to always stand the times of trial so that we can share in the peace that comes only from You. Praise Your name and the guidance You give us and the peace that comes only from You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
