Serenity Ranch offers home away from home

Serenity Ranch Assisted Living is a unique alternative to retirement and nursing homes in the La Vernia area.
It provides a more intimate and personal experience for the residents, where they receive one-on-one care and attention from the live-in staff, Diana James and Lisa Sanchez.
James and Sanchez share a passion for working with the elderly. James worked with retired nuns at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, and Sanchez cared for her mother for 26 years. They are focused on providing the same quality care for the family members of others in their own “small community.”
The home is on a beautiful, 1-acre tract of land surrounded by wildlife and farmland on C.R. 307. Currently, there are three private rooms available. Residents can enjoy the community recreation area with a piano, billiard table, television, arts and crafts, and more. The home includes a back yard and dining area for picnics and gardening, and a saltwater swimming pool and waterfall, where the residents can enjoy water activities. The house provides full disabled access.
James and Sanchez both share a love of nurturing, encouraging, and engaging the elderly in life. They want to help their residents to become more active.
According to James, before a resident moves in, he or she completes an extensive questionnaire. This enables James and Sanchez to accommodate the residents’ specific needs.
They plan to serve home-cooked meals in a family-style atmosphere, have game nights, go on shopping trips, and include any other activities the residents enjoy.
James said residents are encouraged to remain involved with their families, as well. They plan to send reports and have family activity days. Of course, family members can visit at any time.
Prices are competitive for the services offered, and are less than some local nursing homes, according to James and Sanchez.
The mission of Serenity Ranch Assisted Living is, “We will devote all our energy into creating a serene home, so that your loved ones feel a part of an extended family that encourages honor, dignity, peace, and the daily enjoyment of living!”
