Enjoy ‘Praise in the Park’ this Sunday

Plan now to join friends in the La Vernia City Park this Sunday, Oct. 26, for the second Music and Art in the Park event, a free event sponsored by the La Vernia Foundation for the Arts.

The first event -- Sept. 28’s “Rock the Park” -- was a success, with close to 100 people enjoying a Sunday afternoon in the park with good music and wonderful art, after a very rainy wet Saturday.

This Sunday, enjoy “Praise in the Park.” “Ignite,” a Christian group based out of the Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church, will be performing. This group won second place in last year’s Wilson County’s Got Talent show!

Also, Wes Ashburn from the Music Loft has put together a band featuring artists from different churches in La Vernia, performing together for this event.

“I think this is a wonderful idea and a great way for all of our churches to come together within the community,” said Terrie Leonard, secretary of the La Vernia Foundation for the Arts.

Three artists will display their art and talents during the event -- Shelley Henderson, Martha Lenz, and Prudy Kinsel. Shelley will be demonstrating art, as well as displaying art at the event.

Leonard also shared another exciting tidbit about this Sunday’s event.

“We will have a food truck called The Juice Box at the event as well!” she said. “They are a smoothie and juice bar and are on Facebook/sathejuicebox. They feature fresh fruit and veggies in their smoothies.”

This Sunday afternoon, enjoy some time in the La Vernia City Park with great praise music, exciting local artists, and delicious smoothies and treats.
