Now is the time of salvation

Every day we wake up to news of disease and unrest in this world that can bring fear into our hearts. The uncertainty of what is happening around us is something we cannot control and it seems to grow worse with each passing day. In times like these, many are wondering if they are prepared for eternal life. Many Christians even question their own salvation. Going to church and living a good life does not save you. Now is the time to make sure we have salvation and will spend eternity in the presence of God.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 2:1-2, “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” This passage appears in the middle of Paul’s discourse exhorting the Corinthians to turn from sin and live holy before God. In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul wrote concerning the resurrection and subsequent judgment of each soul according to the things done in the body. He implores them on Christ’s behalf to: “be reconciled to God” (2 Cor. 5:21). And in the sixth chapter he exhorts them to do this “now.”

In order to obtain salvation, we must surrender our life to God, repent, and ask Him to forgive our sins as 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” There is a popular verse in the Bible that holds the key to our salvation; it is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” To receive salvation, we must also believe. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Salvation has been provided for us, but we must believe that Jesus shed His blood on the cross to wash away our sins and give us eternal life. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no man comes to the Father except by me.” Acts 4:12 tells us, “Neither is there salvation in any other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation.

It is human nature to procrastinate. But when it comes to where you will spend eternity, there is no room for procrastination. No man is promised tomorrow. If you are not sure of your salvation, then surrender to God, repent of your sins, and ask His forgiveness. Believe that God sent His Son to redeem you and set you free from sin and eternal condemnation. Then you will know and have the assurance you need in these perilous times. Now is the day of salvation! “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:13.
