Ritchey may get life in prison

Former Farmers Insurance agent Patsy Lynne Ritchey, 55, could be facing up to life in prison following her two-count indictment returned Nov. 14 by a Wilson County grand jury. She allegedly defrauded eight policyholders out of a total of $418,812.84, resulting in first-degree felony counts of theft of property worth more than $200,000 and misapplication of fiduciary property worth more than $200,000.

These charges, for which she is scheduled for arraignment Dec. 8 in Wilson County District Court, are in addition to a two-count indictment handed down in June 2013, which is in connection with her tenure as the treasurer of the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce. In that case, she is charged with theft of property worth more than $20,000 but less than $100,000 and with misapplication of fiduciary property and theft of property worth more than $1,500 but less than $20,000.
