How low can it go?

“How low can [the price of] oil go? Exxon CEO says it’s prepared for $40 crude

“Exxon Mobil Corp. can withstand $40 a barrel crude oil prices, Rex Tillerson, Exxon CEO and chairman said é .”

Between the Lines

While consumers are happy to see lower prices at the pump, others are just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Americans are not used to having other economies call the shots, but that is apparently what is happening with the oil market. OPEC, China, and Iran may have more to do with the world oil market today than does the United States.

So, at least for now, fracking in Texas appears to be safe from OPEC’s influence, whatever that is, and we will enjoy the lower price of gasoline without the worry that it will wreck our Texas economy.

“é documents also reveal how the NSA plans to secretly introduce new flaws into communication systems so that they can be tapped into a controversial tactic that security experts say could be exposing the general population to criminal hackers.”

Between the Lines

That’s no surprise to me, as I’ve accepted from the beginning that I’m probably on their list of targets. I’ve pushed all the right buttons with my politically incorrect rants. Surely that’s enough to get attention from the NSA spies.

“The labor force participation rate remained at a 36-year low of 62.8 percent in November, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.”

Between the Lines

The glowing employment numbers just given out by the Obama Administration do not add up with the low rate of labor-force participation, as great numbers of people are not working and are no longer looking for work. The bottom line is that as Americans have left the workforce, they are no longer counted. This accounts for the rosy message from the White House.

“When Louisiana Democrat Sen. Mary Landrieu lost her re-election runoff on Saturday it put Barack Obama in the record books as the two-term president with the most midterm losses for his party.”

Between the Lines

According to this story, the previous record-holder was Harry Truman in 1946. If Republican Martha McSally wins in Arizona in a mandatory election recount, Republicans would increase their lead in the House to 247 to the Democrats 188. McSally currently leads by fewer than 200 votes. This could give the Republicans the largest lead in the House since Herbert Hoover’s administration.

There is a lot of history here.

“Isis have beheaded four Christian children in Iraq for refusing to convert to Islam, a British vicar based in the country has claimed.

“Canon Andrew White, who is known as the ’vicar of Baghdad’, told Orthodox Christian Network that the killings happened in a Christian enclave close to Baghdad é .”

Between the Lines

Chopping off the heads of children because they refuse to betray their faith is sad. Because it is difficult to read, and terrible to report during this Holy Season, does not make it untrue.

Just sad beyond belief.
