Walk with Christ this new year

Another year has passed and it is time again for a bit of reflection. I have long ago given up on making a list of resolutions for the new year. I really prefer to think about all the things that happened that made me realize whether I tried to do something in my own power or let the greater power lead. I would be happy if I could realize it was a 50-50 outcome. Sad to say it is never close to even, there seems to be some control issue in me. So if I were to make any resolutions, to let the Holy Spirit lead would certainly be at the top of the list.

That, of course, would require that I learn to know more about him, so that, too, would be at the top. But to know more about the Spirit I would have to learn to recognize how he works in my life and my path. To learn these things would be my resolutions, and they have been for a few years. We all begin a new year with the best of intentions. January 1-5 usually goes really well. Then things begin messing with our schedule and by the end of the month life has really got in the way of those good intentions. I think this year I will try my best to not ask for, but to give thanks for, every little or big thing. I did say, “Try my best.”

We have no way of knowing what life will bring our way, but it sure helps our resolve to walk through it when we know we aren’t walking alone. If you know Christ you are never alone.

Happy New Year! Have a great week and give God the glory!
