Suspect charged with pharmacy burglaries

As of press time Dec. 30, Joshua Cole McBee, 23, of Seguin is being held in the Guadalupe County Jail on a total of $34,000 bond, following his Dec. 28 arrest. Officials have charged him with two counts of burglary of a building in connection with two recent incidents at the Lifechek Drug store on U.S. 87, said Sgt. Danny Pitts of the La Vernia Police Department.

According to Sgt. Clint Garza of the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, McBee was charged with burglary of a habitation, following an incident at a home off F.M. 775 near New Berlin. Shortly after the burglary occurred, Garza said a family member of McBee’s reported seeing him on their property. Garza said deputies have had prior interaction with McBee, related to trespassing at the relative’s address.

During the deputies’ investigation, Garza said they discovered property in McBee’s possession, linked to both burglaries at Lifechek. The store was broken into via its drive-through window during the overnight hours of Dec. 18-19 and again on Dec. 23. Items including various forms of hydrocodone, cigarettes, beer, pocketknives, candy, and energy drinks were stolen.
