Patsy Ritchey gets 28-year sentence
Patsy Ritchey

Patsy Lynne Ritchey who formerly owned the now-defunct Patsy Ritchey Insurance Agency on U.S. 87 in La Vernia and once was the treasurer of the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce ...has been sentenced to a 28-year prison term as part of a plea deal approved Jan. 14 in Wilson County District Court.

The 55-year-old Ritchey pled guilty to:

¢Theft of property worth more than $20,000 but less than $100,000, related to $89,886.29 stolen from the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce, for which she was sentenced to 10 years in prison

¢Theft of property worth more than $1,500 but less than $20,000, related to $1,865 stolen from Phenix Architectural Woodwork Corporation, for which she was sentenced to 2 years in a state jail

¢Theft of property worth more than $200,000 related to a total of $418,812.84 stolen from eight of her Farmers Insurance policyholders, for which she was sentenced to 28 years in prison.

While Ritchey was given the maximum sentence on the smaller charges, she could have faced up to life in prison on the more serious offense. Judge Russell Wilson of the 218th Judicial District accepted a request by Ritchey’s attorney, Jennifer Dillingham, that the sentences run concurrently. By signing the plea agreements, Ritchey waived her right to appeal any of the convictions, Wilson said.

In addition to serving prison time, Ritchey will be required to pay $268 in court costs for each of the charges to which she pled guilty. If she is paroled, Assistant District Attorney Audrey Louis said the state would pursue restitution.
