Voices for life and for sanity

“Despite Opposition from Fellow Students, Voice for Life Continues its Uncompromising Fight for the Unborn”

Between the Lines

With a woman running for president, we will see more stories about women’s rights and abortion. Instances such as the one with the student group “Voice for Life” at John Hopkins University will be common.

According to a press release from the Thomas Moore Law Center, students were refused the right to display fetal models during the university’s spring fair, as they had always done. Suddenly, there were complaints that such a display would trigger “disturbing images.”

If, as many supporters claim, abortions were something to be celebrated, why would images of such be so disturbing -- especially at a medical training college?

“EPA Could Put Nearly 300,000 Jobs On The Chopping Block”

Between the Lines

At first glance, that appears to be good news. Perhaps the EPA was being cut. But, of course, that is not the story at all. It is about enforcing ever-stricter EPA guidelines for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The jobs to be cut are not within the EPA, but in the general economy as a result of tighter EPA regulations. It’s is all about continuing this administration’s policies that would force more coal plants to close. Even more jobs would be lost, and the price of energy would be negatively impacted. Consumers would be paying higher prices for gasoline and fuel.

“Incompetence, Mismanagement Plague California’s Obamacare Insurance Exchange

Between the Lines

Some readers will automatically dismiss anything from DailySignal.com, but I also know that Sharyl Attkisson is a rare breed of investigative reporter. When she writes, I pay attention.

Attkisson, who formerly worked for CBS, is an award-winning journalist who resigned after tensions arose over her hard-hitting pieces about Hillary Clinton and the Fast and Furious gun deals of Eric Holder.

She has continued her good work with various outlets. Attkisson recently wrote about the gross inefficiency and taxpayer abuse by the California health insurance exchange. If that is a model for the rest of the country, which it had been purported to be, we are all in trouble.

Attkisson reported “gross incompetence and mismanagement involving some of the $1 billion federal tax dollars poured into the state effort.” This spells insanity, for sure.

“Graham says he’s ‘91 percent sure’ he’ll get in 2016 GOP presidential primary”

Between the Lines

Although the field is crowded with Republican candidates for the primary. Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina senator, said he is almost sure he will enter the race. While he is likely a good candidate, at some point, the greater good might be served if some would choose to forego their own egos.

We’re still hearing the names of Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, and Ben Carson. While they are all viable contenders, it would be better to see them unite behind a slate. I would hope they would talk to each other and organize, instead of beating each other up.

May saner voices prevail in this election.
