Who will be Miss La Vernia 2015?
LA VERNIA LIONS CLUB Contestants for the title of Miss La Vernia 2015 enjoy painting at the Art Attack Studio, as they prepare for the Miss La Vernia Scholarship Pageant, set for May 8 in the La Vernia High School auditorium.

The La Vernia Lions Club invites everyone to enjoy this year’s Miss La Vernia Scholarship Pageant Friday, May 8, at 7 p.m. in the La Vernia High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for pre-schoolers.

Each year, the La Vernia Lions Club sponsors this scholarship pageant for deserving young ladies in the area. According to the club’s website, “Beyond talent and beauty, the Miss La Vernia Scholarship Pageant represents the ideals of our community. We teach and encourage healthy living, self-confidence, creative accomplishment, community service, and the pursuit of scholastic achievement among young ladies. Our goal is to inspire, motivate, and lift young ladies to the realization that they are strong, independent, capable people who can accomplish anything.”

Miss La Vernia and her court serve as ambassadors for their community, appearing in parades and public events. Their first official engagement is the La Vernia Bluebonnet Fest Parade, set for Saturday, May 16, at 9:30 a.m., starting at La Vernia High School.
