LVISD trustees approve expenditures

La Vernia Independent School District trustees approved several expenditures as parts of budget amendments at their June 15 meeting. They included:

•$22,000 for a 10-foot by 100-foot by 12-foot covered area surrounded by a chain-link fence to store track equipment under the stadium’s home-side bleachers

•$35,767 to remove and install vinyl tile in the hallway, all classrooms, and the cafeteria of the high school’s 500 building

•$5,669 for replacement of old carpet in both rooms of the high school portable building

•$605 to replace old, water-damaged carpet in the assistant band director’s office

•$77,600 for electricity. (Only $50,000 had been budgeted.)

Trustees delayed action on renovation of the junior high school weight room and resurfacing the track.

The district’s chief financial officer, Kati Burke, presented an overview of the proposed budget for the 2015-16 school year.

“We are taking a balanced budget to the board for final approval,” district Superintendent José Moreno said after the meeting. “We are excited that we will start off the school year running.”
