Two Wilson County area churches will serve as drop-off locations for this year’s Operation Christmas Child -- Oak Hills Community Church in Floresville and the First Baptist Church in La Vernia.
Operation Christmas Child is an effort that has hand-delivered 86 million gifts to kids worldwide since 1993. This year-round project of Samaritan’s Purse is coming to its peak, as local businesses, churches, and schools prepare to collect gift-filled shoe boxes during National Collection Week, Monday, Nov. 14, through Monday, Nov. 21.
Operating hours for Oak Hills Community Church, located at 90 Eagle Creek Ranch Blvd. north of Floresville, are Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 14-15, 1-5 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. until noon; Thursday and Friday, 1-6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Sunday, 2-5 p.m.; and Monday, Nov. 21, 9 a.m. until noon.
Operating hours for the First Baptist Church, located at 201 S. Crews in La Vernia, are Monday through Thursday, Nov. 14-17, 10 a.m. until noon; Friday, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. until noon; Sunday, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; and Monday, Nov. 21, 9 a.m. until noon.
