Greater Chamber considers three-tier membership

The Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce invites new members and is considering several levels of membership.

During the organization’s Nov. 7 meeting, President Curtis Reeder outlined the different levels and urged area businesses to join. This item was tabled until the next meeting to encourage more members to attend and vote on the matter, Reeder said after the meeting.

Level one is the general member level and yearly dues will be $200. This level offers company exposure on the Greater Chamber website and Facebook, and includes two votes at all chamber meetings and elections.

One-third-page ads in the Membership Directory at this level will be $250, with each additional one-third-page ad $250.

Membership at Level 2 is the Chairman’s level; yearly dues are $100. This provides the same exposure on the website and Facebook as Level 1 and also includes two votes. One-third-page ads will be $100 and each additional ad of the same size will be $100.

At this level, members will be required to chair one of the committees and are expected to give reports on their committees during meetings requested by the chamber board. These positions would be selected by a vote or by the chamber board.

Board-level membership is Level 3; only the executive board is in this level. Dues will be $100 and will include a free one-third-page ad; each additional ad will be $50.

Reeder also presented an income and expense report that shows the chamber operating with a negative cash flow.

“We can either bring in more money in which to operate, or we can decide what we will do without,” Reeder said. “I strongly urge all members to come and vote on which direction the chamber takes on this matter.”

Reeder reminded everyone that December is the time to vote in new board members.

“I would encourage everyone to think about serving the chamber in this respect,” he said.
