Congress spends, EPA rules, Republicans flounder

Headline from

Tribune News Service

“Congress gave final approval Friday to one of the most ambitious legislative packages in years: a $1.1 trillion funding bill, up to $680 billion in tax breaks and ... .”

Between the Lines

That was “ambitious” alright! Another way to put that would have been: “Congress gave final approval Friday to one of the most egregious legislative packages in years. Our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever be paying for this outrageous and irresponsible government spending.

There are no longer any checks and balances in Washington, as neither party is willing to step up to the plate and take control. All they know is, “Keep spending.”

Fayetteville Observer

“Army 1st Lt. Clint Lorance, a 28-year-old 82nd Airborne Division officer, was convicted at Fort Bragg on Thursday of murder for ordering soldiers under his command to shoot three Afghans who were riding a motorcycle. Two were killed, the third ran away. ...”

Between the Lines

That tragedy was in 2013. As unthinkable as it is, this man was charged with murder for doing what he thought was protecting American lives.

Now two years later, we see the further tragedy of our own senseless restrictive military “rules of engagement.” Monday in Afghanistan, six American troops were killed and two more wounded -- by a motorcycle rider on a bomb-laden motorcycle.

Americans were killed because our troops practically have to ask for an ID before shooting. They risk being charged with murder as was Lorance or they risk being killed. This tragedy should have been avoided if our troops could do their job.

Texas Farm Bureau

“The Environmental Protection Agency broke the law when it created a social media campaign to promote its Waters of the U.S. rule.”

Between the Lines

Just #OutOfControl is how Gary Joiner describes this government agency. Not only does the government tax its citizens almost to death, but now they are trying to propagandize through the media.

Government programs such as food stamps, WIC (Women, Infants, Children), and even public schools openly seek participants to increase their power. Even public schools are soliciting private contributions in addition to the school taxes.

It’s just an out-of-control federal government wanting more and more power over the citizens.

Get ready because it’s going to be a wild ride as the president continues to build support for his climate-change rules. Al Gore retired rich, fat, and happy using this same tactic.

Headline from

Tribune News Service

“Sen. Lindsey Graham dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination Monday, saying his campaign helped make foreign policy a top issue.”

Between the Lines

Most folks didn’t even know Graham was running, just as they are forgetting about poor Jeb Bush. The Republican Party is in such sad shape. It’s lost its vision, having become just a watered-down version of the Democrat Party.

Both parties are focused on maintaining power rather than representing the people. That attitude leaves Donald Trump surging in the polls. Rather than repeating the party line, Trump says what taxpayers need to hear. More power to him.
