Meet this year’s trail ride royalty! These young riders are trekking with their trail ride groups to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
Cheyenne Paige McCarty, Sandhills Trail Drivers queen
Cheyenne Paige “Chy” McCarty is a proud Rocket at Judson High School. This is her second year as the Sandhills Trail Drivers queen.
She spends her time going to games and supporting her school, taking care of her livestock, hanging out with friends and family, and going to actual school.
Being a member of the Judson FFA, Chy believes, will help her achieve her goal of going to Texas Tech University and becoming an ag teacher.
She really enjoys being on horseback with her closest friends and family on these rides. Chy appreciates everyone’s support through the years and looks forward to this year’s rides, and many more to come.
Aspyn Breiten, Old Chisholm Trail Drivers mascot
Aspyn Breiten, 10, is the 2015-16 Old Chisholm Trail Drivers mascot. A fourth-grader at La Vernia Intermediate School, Aspyn is the daughter of Michael and Michele Breiten of La Vernia.
She loves riding her horse, Turbo, and enjoys riding other horses as well. Aspyn enjoys playing sports in the community when she’s not horseback riding. She plays volleyball for St. Ann’s CYO and also plays softball in the La Vernia Little League.
Aspyn would like to send a special thank-you to her friends and family for all of the support and love that they have shown her during her reign as Old Chisholm mascot. She also wishes all trail riders a safe and joyful ride this year.
Allie Marie Friesenhahn, Mesquite Traildrivers queen
Allie Marie Friesenhahn, 17, is the Mesquite Traildrivers’ 50th anniversary queen.
A junior at East Central High School, Allie is very active showing animals in the FFA and played on the junior varsity softball team. She is ranked in the top 5 percent of the graduating class of 2017.
A member and officer of the United 4-H Horse Club, she is also a member of the Horse Judging team and participates in their speed event competitions. Allie has two horses, Cleo and Z, that she trail rides with and participates in many jackpot barrel races and playdays on.
The daughter of Sherri Dudek and Daniel Friesenhahn Jr., Allie has one brother, Lane Friesenhahn. She is the granddaughter of Samia and Daniel Friesenhahn Sr. and Genevieve Dudek and the late Robert Dudek. She has also been blessed to have her great-grandparents, Dorothy Friesenhahn and the late Nelson Friesenhahn Sr., in her life.
Allie has been a member of Mesquite Traildrivers since she was born, and went on her first trail ride when she was 2 months old, riding in the covered wagon with her granny and pappy. Allie also served as Mesquite’s Little Miss in 2009.
Upon graduation, Allie plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station and major in veterinary medicine.

Morgan Baird, Mesquite Traildrivers mascot
Morgan Baird, 9, the son of Tanya Baird and James Baird Jr., serves as this year’s Mesquite Traildrivers mascot. He attends John Glenn Elementary School and is involved in all activities pertaining to the Mesquite Traildrivers. He loves to go to the dances held at the hall.
Morgan is involved in CYO baseball and soccer in St. Hedwig. He is raising a lamb which he showed at the Bexar County Junior Livestock Show and will be exhibiting at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
A member of the St. Hedwig 4-H, Morgan has a little brother named Tanner who is also involved with the Traildrivers.
Anne Alonso, Mesquite Traildrivers little miss
Anne Alonso is the 2015-2016 little miss for the Mesquite Traildrivers Association. Anne, 9, is a third-grader at John Glenn Elementary School.
The daughter of Chris and Brandy Alonso of St. Hedwig, Anne is also a proud big sister to brother Cody. Anne is the granddaughter of Geri Kierum, Mary Jane and Billy Farris, and Ramon and Emma Alonso.
Anne enjoys riding her horse, showing her pigs, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys dancing at the Mesquite Traildrivers’ monthly dances.
Anne has a been a member of the Mesquite Traildrivers all her life. She is very excited to represent Mesquite on their ride beginning in Lockhart and wishes everyone a safe ride!
