On April 21, the La Vernia Bears boys track team competed in the Area meet in Liberty Hill to determine who will have a shot at going to the Regional Championship, which will be held this weekend, April 29-30 in Kingsville.
Those who finish in the top two at Regionals will be given a chance to compete in Austin on the first of May and possibly be crowned State champion. Congratulations go out to the four members of both the 4X100-meter and 4X200-meter relay team: Samuel Thompson, Noah Wells, Michael Wong, and Koby Bullard. I would also like to mention and thank their alternates, Garrett Czarnek and Zach Ruiz, who work hard everyday and could be asked to fill in at any time.
Congrats also go out to three members of the boys Track and Cross Country Teams that placed in the top four of their events and were awarded a shot at competing in Kingsville. The three distance runners are Aubrey Stewart and Landon Collins in the 3200-meter Run and Tate Gregory in the 1600-meter run. Bobby Gonzales placed in the 3200-meter run as well. Noah Wells and Michael Wong both qualified in other events and will have a chance for success in individual races next week. Wells will be competing in the 100-meter dash finals, while Michael Wong will be competing in the 200-meter dash.
Great job and good luck at Regionals!
