The La Vernia Bears have finished their baseball season as Bi-district champs, after falling to El Campo in their Area playoff series last weekend, two games to one.
“The Bears had a great season that had many milestones,” said Head Coach Adam Borgfeld. “We were Co-District champs for the third year in a row, and we won at least 20 games for the fourth year in a row. Like all seasons, you want to win it all, but unfortunately only one team is going to be happy at the end of the year.
“I am very proud of this team and the accomplishments that it made throughout the season,” he added. “I am going to miss these seniors. They really helped carry this team and have continued the trend that we started five years ago when I took over, which was to play hard and win.”
Borgfeld is optimistic for the future. “We have some good juniors coming back next year, and we have a good nucleus of young players from the JV and freshmen teams that can help reload and keep our winning traditions alive.”
Congratulations, Bears! We are proud of you!
