A favorite Psalm in the Bible is Psalm 91. It begins with, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” This verse is very comforting to us when we are going through situations beyond our control and there is no one to turn to but God. It is in situations like these that we realize we are nothing and God is everything. It is up to us to dwell in the secret place so when trouble comes we will not run scared, but know that we are under the shadow of the Almighty God and that God is in control. God is our refuge and fortress and our trust should be in Him completely.
How do we dwell in the secret place? We dwell in the secret place by seeking God first when we rise up, seeking Him through the day and seeking Him before we retire. Seeking Him means to pray, read the Word, meditate, worship Him, and let Him surround us with His love on a daily basis. We should make God our dwelling place and our habitation. If God is our habitation, no evil can come near us.
Verses 9-11 of Psalm 91 say, “Because thou has made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” If we abide in God, fear, sickness, and any situation will have to leave because God will give His angels charge over us to protect us from any attack. God knows every situation that we encounter and He is there to see us through even through the toughest times.
