Fifth place in the world: LV Odyssey team shines
La Vernia Odyssey members (from left) Madison Sarsfield, coach Amie Gaylor, Zowie Gaylor, Austin Bean, Claire Ploch, Kaden McCloskey, Kailey McCloskey, and assistant coach Devon Sarsfield stand (and sit) alongside their props as they prepare to compete in the Fins, Furs, Feathers & Friends problem.

The La Vernia Intermediate Odyssey Division I team traveled to Ames, Iowa, May 25-28, to compete against 72 teams from around the world. Their performance in the Fins, Furs, Feathers, & Friends problem left the audience smiling in awe of their creative humor and resourceful props.

The team placed fifth overall and were nationally recognized by the Odyssey of the Mind Association. This is the first time placing in a recognition standing for a La Vernia team.

The team enjoyed visiting with other teams from Japan, Poland, China, and other states in the United States. The pin trading was a favorite experience, with each member taking home several pin sets along with a lifetime of memories.
