Hard work, determination, and dedication. That’s what more than 430 cyclists brought to La Vernia Sept. 10, along with huge helpings of enthusiasm.
And that’s what the army of volunteers and community members brought together, too, to make the La Vernia Wild West Hammerfest cycle ride another raging success!
Sponsored by the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce, this annual event brings riders from across the Lone Star State and further afield to enjoy the scenery and friendliness of La Vernia and surrounding communities. The ride is a recommended event for cyclists preparing to participate in the Bike MS: Valero Ride to the River, which will bring cyclists again through parts of Wilson, Bexar, and Guadalupe counties in early October.
Community members and organizations manned rest stops along the three Hammerfest routes of 41, 60, and 72 miles, to provide refreshments. Connally Memorial Medical Center again provided the stop at the start/finish line in the La Vernia City Park.
Thanks to everyone who participated and volunteered for making this another great event for La Vernia and visitors to the city!
