With all of the division, the riots, and mayhem that have become common occurrences across our great land, there is no time better than now to come together for National Night Out.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
Let’s bring back the trust and belief in one another, especially with our local law enforcement, first responders, and fire departments by taking the time to join a celebration in your neighborhood Tuesday, Oct. 4, at one of these area events:
•La Vernia -- 6:30-8:30 p.m., La Vernia City Park on San Antonio Road. Sponsored by the La Vernia Police Department, La Vernia Fire Department, and first responders; meet local emergency personnel, and get your fill of food, fun activities for the kids, and door prizes, all free! To get involved or to donate, contact the La Vernia Police Department.
•St. Hedwig -- 6-9 p.m., St. Hedwig City Park Track, 13065 F.M. 1346. Sponsored by the St. Hedwig Fire Department; hamburgers and hot dogs will be served until they’re gone. Check out the fire trucks, helicopters, police cars, and more.
•China Grove -- 6-8 p.m., at 2456 F.M. 1516 S. Sponsored by the China Grove Fire Rescue; get to know your neighbors, eat some food, and hear music by Reality Entertainment. Donations will be greatly appreciated.
