Never Trump or Never Hillary; Meaning of Christmas

“Government Contractor Arrested, Charged With Removing Classified Materials.”

Between the Lines

A government contractor recently was charged in connection with mishandling classified material.

The government does not tolerate people in the government not respecting classified material.

Look at what happened to Gen. David Petraeus when he was director of the CIA and had been a well-respected commander in the U.S. Army. His career was effectively ended and he paid a $100,000 fine for mishandling classified information.

For sure the government does not take lightly the careless handling of classified information -- unless you are Hillary Clinton. She has been destroying information, classified or not, since her days back in Arkansas.

“The editorialists have spoken; will voters listen? USA Today made the first presidential endorsement in its history ... .”

Between the Lines

The Atlantic Magazine and Vanity Fair have also broken precedent and endorsed Clinton, claiming Trump to be a xenophobe, a sexist, and a liar.

They join the Republican elite, who sanctimoniously distance themselves from Trump. They apparently have no problem with all the other xenophobes and liars who have ever served in the White House -- or are currently running for the top job.

Look for things to get worse -- much worse -- before they get better.

“First Waco in 1993, now Washington in 2016 -- hapless FBI cleans up another Clinton mess. Veteran FBI agents say FBI Director James Comey has permanently damaged the bureau’s reputation ... .”

Between the Lines

As Martin Kufus wrote on his LinkedIn blog, the whole world is watching as the FBI cleans up another Clinton mess -- and takes the blame for it. If its own agents are ready to revolt over the cowardly non-probe of Hillary mishandling of classified information, the American people should be ready to join them.

Remember the Brexit vote, and do likewise on Nov. 8.

The Washington power brokers are not about to have their cozy little Washington gravy train upset by an outsider.

Press Release

“Join the UIW family and kick off the holidays at one of the most anticipated events of the season. The 2017 theme is ‘The Lights are Bright on Broadway’ ... .”

Between the Lines

The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) will flip the switch to begin the holiday celebrations. The celebration on Nov. 19 will include an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The campus will remain lighted until Jan. 6, 2017. UIW encourages folks to share their favorite “Light the Way” memories and photos.

What a shame, wrote one faithful Catholic observer, that a Catholic university would not realize what a teaching moment this event could present. They could coordinate this secular activity with the religious significance of the season by tying the lighting ceremony to the beginning of Advent. They could flip the switch on Nov. 27 and offer at least a brief explanation of its meaning.

Ending on Jan. 6 is also religiously significant, as that is the Feast of the Epiphany, commonly known as Three Kings Day. A golden opportunity missed, perhaps?
