Undue influence, NPR, ‘cupcakes,’ Electoral College, mud puddles

WashingtonPost.com

“President-elect Donald Trump has decided that he won’t seek criminal investigations related to former rival Hillary Clinton’s private email server or her family foundation, ... .”

Between the Lines

This announcement came from Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, on MSNBC. The Washington Post pointed out that this would be an “extraordinary break” from tradition because the president does not influence decisions of the FBI or the Justice Department.

Uh-h-h. I believe that break came from the Obama Administration. Still, Conway’s statement is subject to the usual media misinterpretation.

“Diane Rehm: Donald Trump Won Because Not Enough People Listen to NPR”

Between the Lines

As 80-year-old Diane Rehm was set to retire from National Public Radio, she lamented on the results of the recent presidential election. Her conclusion was that not enough people knew about NPR (implying that the “deplorables” were not intelligent enough to understand the value of listening to NPR). Had they listened to NPR, they surely never would have voted for Donald Trump, she said.

That is just one more reason why the government should not be funding any radio program. While NPR advocates for more diversity, they only want diversity that agrees with their liberal thoughts.

“Universities pressured to offer ‘sanctuary’ to immigrants.”

Between the Lines

What they are really talking about are illegal immigrants. What they are really talking about is that federally funded institutions are using taxpayer funds to aid and abet those who have broken the law. In addition, these institutions are providing shelter for the liberal “cupcakes” who are too upset over Trump’s election to even function in the real world.

Why are we funding such nonsense?

“Texas Trump Elector Tells Those Threatening Death: ‘You May All Go to Hell...I Will Go to Texas!’”

Between the Lines

Not sure how accurate that headline is, but, being from Texas, I can say it’s entirely believable! We do know that the supporters of Hillary Clinton are putting extreme pressure on electors to vote for Hillary instead of for Trump as they have been pledged to do. Considering the progress Trump has made in just a few days, it’s not too likely electors will change their votes. The much-maligned Electoral College meets Dec. 19 to make the final determination according to the votes in the states they represent.

“Whoopi Goldberg: Anyone Who Didn’t Vote for Hillary is Stupid, ‘You Haven’t Done Your Homework’”

Between the Lines

The absurdity of Hollywood inserting itself into the American political scene could be demonstrated no better than by having this comedian tell us that we didn’t know enough to be able to cast an intelligent vote. We are used to academia elites telling us that, but a comedian? Really!

“Did you know the mud puddle in front of your barn is perceived as a potential environmental threat? Did you know plowing could be a federal crime?”

Between the Lines

Farmers may find welcome relief under the Trump administration if he curtails the EPA’s onerous regulations. We may again own our mud puddles and be able to plow our fields without fear of reprisal from the EPA.
