It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas -- all over La Vernia!
Kick off your holidays by enjoying a number of events this Saturday, Dec. 3, and next Wednesday, Dec. 7.

•Winter Wassailing, all day at participating businesses. Enjoy wassail -- various recipes for spiced cider -- and snacks at La Vernia businesses, while completing your Christmas shopping.
•La Vernia Lions Club Holiday Craft Show and Bake Sale, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., La Vernia Church of Christ, located at 131 Industrial Drive. Shop for Christmas gifts and sweet treats at a number of vendor booths. Proceeds will benefit the club’s charitable giving funds.
‘Spirit of Christmas’ tree lighting
Due to anticipated inclement weather, the “Spirit of Christmas” tree-lighting ceremony will take place Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the La Vernia City Park, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Originally scheduled for Dec. 3, this annual event will include train rides, a snow slide, movies, cookie decorating, and visits with Santa, and more. Hosted by the Greater La Vernia Parks Foundation and the city of La Vernia, this is the official start to Christmas festivities in the city. Check out the entries in the La Vernia Municipal Development District’s wreath decorating contest; winners will be announced during the evening.
The fun continues Thursday, Dec. 8, at The Den. Take along your canned food donations for the La Vernia Food Pantry or gift items for the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Santa program, and enjoy a visit with Santa, play in the snow, watch the “Polar Express,” and snack on hot chocolate and s’mores from 6-8 p.m. at La Vernia’s favorite hangout, located at 484 Bluebonnet Road (F.M. 775).
Celebrate Christmas with some great hometown events, starting this Saturday. Merry Christmas, y’all!
