“Economy ’Strong’ Under President Obama as Unemployment Falls to 9-Year Low”

Between the Lines

So, just as the Obama administration, for eight years, blamed the Bush administration for the horrible recession, they are setting it up to give Obama credit for any possible economic growth under President Trump.

What they don’t explain, however, is that the new “low” unemployment rate of 4.6 percent does not include the nearly 100,000 people who have settled for a permanent unemployment status, willing to collect government benefits while not working.

This leads to no growth and economic stagnation. It does not add to the gross national product in any way.

“California just passed a law regulating cow farts”

Between the Lines

Now that the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has released the full force of its regulatory reach in the waning days of the Obama administration, rural America can only hope that Trump comes into office sooner rather than later.

If anyone really believes that cow belching and farts are going to change global warming, I have a bridge to nowhere for them to buy.

Such ridiculous regulations will only add to the cost of products to consumers. This is especially detrimental in California, where many farmers have been struggling to survive a five-year-drought.

Many dairies are going out of business or moving to better climates, not only to escape the drought but also to escape the onerous regulations.

“Trump himself has faced criticism for his use of social media to spread misinformation, including his evidence-free claim that ’millions of people’ had voted illegally in the Nov. 8 election.”

Between the Lines

It seems that “fake news” is whatever one disagrees with. We remember President Obama’s statement to a “dreamer” that they should not fear voting.

My jaw dropped when I heard Obama say, in response to an undocumented citizen’s question, that “when you vote, you are a citizen yourself, and there is not a situation where the voting rules are transferred over and people start investigating.”

Was that just assurance of the voting process or was it, as many thought, actually encouraging illegals to vote?

“What is new is a propensity for large segments of society to believe things that are clearly untrue. é But we delude ourselves if we think that this problem originates only with online trolls and heedless consumers in the thrall of the Internet and social media.”

Between the Lines

Many believe that one of the all-time greatest fake news stories was when the president himself, and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, shamelessly blamed a video for the riots that resulted in four American deaths at the embassy in Benghazi, Libya.

Unfortunately, no one in the “real media” questioned those statements. It wasn’t until years later that emails revealed that Clinton had told others a different story; the riots were not caused by a video.

This was “real” fake news, not something made up on social media. This is the most dangerous fake news of all.
