Good news, storms, Trump and the future

Headline from S.A. Express-News
“Natural gas sent to Mexico increasing”

Between the Lines

Indications are that the news is all good. As Mexico buys more fuel from the Texas shale, the Trump administration plans to further boost the domestic oil production in the U.S. This is all good news for Texas and the Eagle Ford shale area.

Headline from DNC Press
“It has been 152 days since Donald Trump held a press conference.”

Between the Lines

That was Monday, so by the date of this publication, Dec. 29, it’s been 155 days. There is no reason to assume that he has held a press conference between then and now. In fact, there is no reason on God’s green earth that he should be holding a news conference now or any time soon. Keep them in suspense, as Trump likes to say!

Headline from EagleRising.com
“Apparently, Juan Williams had voiced his concerns that incoming Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway may not be able to do her job and raise her four kids at the same time.”

Between the Lines

Since when it is it OK to question a woman about her family? I can’t recall a man ever being asked how he could do the job and still maintain his family.

But true to Conway, she handled the question well. She said that, unlike many men in office, she does not play golf, and she does not have a lover on the side, so she would have plenty of free time to spend with her family.

Headline from S.A. Express-News
“Storm wreaks havoc across north Plains”

Between the Lines

Even as much of the U.S. was dealing with blizzards, in the South, folks were kicking on their air conditioning to survive the holidays. Much of Texas was met with 80-degree weather on Christmas. Perhaps we don’t need a blizzard, but a little chill would be nice.

Headline from JPost.com
“... the Security Council wasted valuable time and efforts condemning the democratic State of Israel for building homes in the historic Jewish homeland.”

Between the Lines

With his parting shot, President Obama is either laying a trap to snare the incoming president or he is simply throwing a tantrum because his party lost the election.

Obama has treated Israel with disdain from the beginning. Recall when he left the prime minister sitting alone while he (Obama) dined privately with his family.

The final insult, of course, was the vote by the United Nations to sanction Israel. This is unforgiveable and leaves the incumbent with a delicate situation to handle.

Just pray that Netanyahu hangs tough until the new administration can rethink some of these disasterous decisions.

Headline from S.A. Express-News
“Apps could reduce time spent at the grocery checkout.”

Between the Lines

That is all well and good -- and it probably is inevitable that we will be relying on computers even more in the future -- but that leads me to ask what folks will do with all this extra “free time?” My fear is they will spend it on Facebook rather than on anything productive.
