“It was the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history!”

Between the Lines

Super Bowl 51 was a fantastic game. Appropriately, some say, the New England Patriots came back from behind to beat the Atlanta Falcons. At the time, all odds were against them winning. Kinda similar to Donald Trump’s win in November. It was against all odds.

I think Donald Trump Jr. nailed it with his tweet after the Wall Street Journal predicted that the Falcons were almost certain to win the Super Bowl.

“Where have I seen stats like this before???,” tweeted the president’s son. This Super Bowl was one for the records. The Patriots came from behind to surprise everyone and win. It was like when everyone predicted that Hillary Clinton would almost certainly win the presidency. Donald J. Trump won despite the predictions. Don’t you just love those polls and predictions?

“Why Middle Eastern nations support Trump’s immigration halt”

“Critics of President Trump’s temporary travel ban on seven Muslim nations should remember the Chinese proverb, ‘Kill the chicken and let the monkey watch.’”

Between the Lines

This quote was from the Asian Times. We are watching, as the arguments continue on Tuesday in the courts and with the Justice Department. We are watching -- and waiting -- for the verdict: Immigration ban -- or ban the immigration ban?

“Recent scandals in the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Internal Revenue Service demonstrated that it’s almost impossible to fire federal employees, many of whom reportedly intend to go rogue by not implementing President Donald Trump’s agenda.”

Between the Lines

Some are ready to change the civil service laws to make it easier to fire federal employees. Even as some federal employees are now openly defying the Hatch Act by actively opposing the Trump administration, they have broken with tradition -- and the law.

There have been leaks from within by federal employees who wish to undermine Trump’s efforts.

As the president is lawfully trying to accomplish his goals, some disgruntled employees and bureaucrats are attempting, lawfully or unlawfully, to overturn the will of the people.

“Standing in front of the Capitol building, surrounded by former Presidents and politicians, he said that everything they had done in the past has been a way to extract power from the American people and to feather their own nests.”

Between the Lines

Trump did something that has never been done by an American president. He made campaign promises, and he is keeping his promises. This has his opponents apoplectic. Thus we see the riots and violence in the streets. People are used to politicians making promises, but to have someone actually do what they promised is another thing.

“The United States gained 5,000 jobs in manufacturing in January while losing 10,000 in government, according to numbers released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.”

Between the Lines

This is good news, reversing a trend. Over the past year, government steadily gained jobs, while manufacturing jobs were lost. This is a trend that needs to continue.
