The Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce has begun 2012 in earnest with a flurry of activities. The Greater Chamber has launched a new effort to “Keep La Vernia Beautiful,” hosted a chamber mixer, and is working hard to gain new members.

The Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce will hold its next monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at noon, in the back room of Witte’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant. Texas District 44 Rep. John Kuempel will be the guest speaker.

The meeting is free and open to anyone interested in attending.

The Greater Chamber also has announced its decision to establish a Keep La Vernia Beautiful program. This program will function as an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful Inc., following the completion of specific criteria, such as participation in an annual Keep Texas Beautiful-endorsed event and program training sessions.

The co-chairs of Keep La Vernia Beautiful are Patsy Ritchey of Farmers Insurance Group and Laura Dylla, owner of Heavenly Touch Massage Therapy in La Vernia.

“Our mission is to promote and recognize beautification efforts which result in a cleaner, more beautiful La Vernia,” Ritchey said.

“We will also encourage, promote, and recognize all the clean-up and beautification efforts done by businesses, local churches, scout troops, and many others,” Dylla added. “We welcome other organizations to join with us to help Keep La Vernia Beautiful.”

“The Keep La Vernia Beautiful effort will benefit our community in many ways,” said Greater Chamber President Wes Becknell. “A clean and beautiful place to live and work is where people want to raise their family. Protecting that beauty is a gift to future generations.”

The Greater Chamber also invites new members. Businesses and members who would like to be listed in the 2012 Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce Directory must have dues paid by Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Membership is available in three tiers:

•$150 membership, includes a 1/3-page ad in the directory

•$250 membership, includes a 2/3-page ad in the directory

•$350 membership, includes a full-page ad in the directory.

Dues can be mailed to Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 1055, La Vernia, TX 78121. Include your email address.
