The Oscars get their ‘just desserts,’ bathrooms, DNC

“‘There’s a mistake’: A minute-by-minute breakdown of the historic Oscars flub involving best-picture winner ‘Moonlight’ and ‘La La Land’”

Between the Lines

By now the mix-up at the Oscars is legendary, after the best-picture award was mistakenly presented to “La La Land.” The real winner was “Moonlight,” but this did not become apparent until after the cast of “La La Land” accepted and gave their acceptance speech.

It looked at first like it could have been part of their comedy routine, but it was not a joke. It was a monumental embarrassment for people in Hollywood who hold themselves above the rest of us, because they know better! They tell us who to vote for and what causes to support, but then flub the most important part of the Oscar performance?

“Our fight over the bathroom directive has always been about former President Obama’s attempt to bypass Congress and rewrite the laws to fit his political agenda for radical social change.”

Between the Lines

With everything that is going on all over the world, why is it that the federal government wants to tell us which bathroom we can use?

“President Trump will propose a federal budget that dramatically increases defense-related spending by $54 billion while cutting other federal agencies ... .”

Between the Lines

Our defense system has been sadly neglected over the last eight years, so it makes sense to shore it up. The fact that other agencies will get less of the pie is what has them tied up in knots. It will be interesting, as the budget process works its way through Congress. Trump promises to do more with less. This is how a business is run.

Hillary Clinton

“Let resistance plus persistence equal progress for our Party and our country.”

Between the Lines

At some point over the weekend, Ms. Hillary Clinton showed up on a video with that message. Her delivery of the message on that video reminded me of one of those old made-for-school educational videos. It was so well-rehearsed and devoid of passion, it sounded contrived.

What was she thinking? What is the Democratic National Committee thinking? They have just elected the two most radical leftists to lead their party -- and now Hillary is their cheerleader? This appears to be another self-inflicted wound for the DNC.

“Indeed, rather than adopt the compromising tone so beloved by Capitol Hill’s Republican swamp-dwellers, we urge the President to hold their feet to the fire.”

Between the Lines

By the time you read this, you will know what President Trump did or did not say in his address to the joint sessions of Congress on Tuesday night. Some hoped he would give the usual conciliatory message, reaching across the aisle, but that seems useless since many of those on the other side are not interested.

Others feel that it is time for Trump to get serious with the Renegade Republicans. It’s time they get on board or drown in their Washington swamp.
