“Trump Tax Plan Benefits Trump, A Lot”

Between the Lines

What I read in this DNC message is jealousy. In their attempt to demonize President Trump, they will oppose anything and everything he tries to do.

The fact that tax cuts would in any way benefit Trump is, in their eyes, reason enough to oppose them. They would be willing to throw the rest of us under the bus in order to get back at him.

A lot of middle-income taxpayers and people in business are anxiously awaiting a revision of tax law. Don’t punish us just to get back at the president.

“Senate Democrats to introduce background check bill”

Between the Lines

Not surprisingly, the gun-control folks were out in full force even before the bodies were cold in the latest mass shooting. It is sad, but the man who killed 58 in the Las Vegas shooting apparently could have passed the background test.

Very obviously, guns are not the problems, and more laws cannot stop one who is intent on breaking every existing law there is.

“On Tuesday night, reporter Jordan Chariton and cameraman Ty Bayliss, both journalists for The Young Turks, were arrested.”

Between the Lines

The U.S. Press Freedom Tracker monitors and reports incidents of attacks against journalists. According to the organization, there is a prevalence of incidents occurring at protests.

And is there a possibility that if journalists were not reporting on these protests, the news value for them would be greatly diminished? It is not always important to report on every little protest, making what may have been a minor incident into national news.

Journalists, take note.

“Breaking! The NFL Players Association Caught Funneling Money to George Soros”

Between the Lines

Could this be the last straw for the beleaguered NFL and its ultra-rich players who insist on showing disrespect for the flag, and for the patriotism for which it stands?

“These are basic human rights, not political pawns on a chessboard.”

Between the Lines

You coulda fooled me. I think the liberals have been doing precisely that: using women and the issue of contraceptives as pawns on a chessboard.

Trump removed the ACA’s requirement that insurers provide contraception at no cost. As a result of that decision, the DNC declared Trump unfit to be president.

He did not outlaw contraception. He just said women can pay for their own pills, freeing employers whose conscience tells them differently from being forced to pay.

Contraception should be decided by women and their doctors, the press release said. Precisely. And neither the federal government nor employers are preventing them from making those decisions. They just have to pay for their own methods. Despite whining from the DNC, contraceptive care remains “affordable and accessible.”

“‘I’m going to work until I die’: The new reality of old age in America”

Between the Lines

Too many Americans are not saving and not planning for their future. Perhaps because they are so accustomed to having Social Security and Medicare or Medicaid. By being dependent on the government rather than being self-sufficient, they are finding themselves in dire straits when they start to think about retirement.

Perhaps Americans would actually be healthier if they continued to work as long as they are able. That does not mean working slave labor, but keeping busy. As people are living longer, they need to plan better.

It’s best to plan now for your “golden years,” and if that does include continued employment, so be it. Being active is one of the best ways to stay physically fit.
