“Tax on advertising? Why you should care.”

Between the Lines

If you own a business, run a business, or just have a job, this tax could affect you because advertising -- like rent, salaries, and utilities -- is a necessary part of doing business. Taxing advertising would severely limit business (especially small-business) growth.

Yet, every few years when the tax code comes up for consideration, greedy congressional representatives look for every possible avenue for increasing tax revenue as they aim to increase spending. Advertising is always on the “hit” list.

“U.S. withdraws from UNESCO, the U.N.’s cultural organization, citing anti-Israel bias”

Between the Lines

First Trump tells the little nuns (and anyone else interested) that they do not have to pay for contraceptives. Then he says consumers can buy insurance across state lines, and he withholds subsidies that have been going illegally to insurance companies, leaving further action up to Congress.

Now he withdraws the United States from UNESCO.

The news just keeps getting better and better. This president is living up to his promises, one executive order at a time, because Congress has failed to act.

“President Donald Trump is continuing to apply pressure on Congress to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act.”

Between the Lines

Trump also has made it easier for groups and associations to join together to qualify for lower premiums. Trump continues to issue executive orders designed to undo the executive orders put in place by President Obama.

One pen stroke at a time, Trump is making it happen. By cutting off the big-insurance gravy train, this effectively leaves further action up to Congress, as it should have been all along. Congress failed to act under Obama, forcing him to use executive orders; Congress again is failing to act under Trump.

However, even with Trump’s executive orders in place, the bureaucracy moves slowly, so it will be none too soon before consumers feel relief.

“Trump: Sgt. Bergdahl Would’ve Been Shot ‘30 Years Ago’ For Being a ‘No Good Traitor’”

Between the Lines

Where does Bergdahl’s guilty plea leave the Obama Administration after it defended and praised him? Trump was blamed for criticizing Obama’s release of Bergdahl as a “terrible deal.”

Now the tables have been turned.

Bergdahl will be sentenced later this month.

“Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards: ‘Why Should Christians be Able to Impose Their Views on Women?’”

Between the Lines

The question should be: “Why should pro-abortion Planned Parenthood be able to impose its views on Christian women when it is against their religious beliefs?” Christians should not be forced to go against their sincerely held beliefs and pay for the abortions of others.
