This year, we stood ‘La Vernia Strong’

Hello, La Vernia Citizens!

When I think back on 2017, it’s a year I think most of us would like to forget, but I know we never will! With all the tragic events that rocked our community, we stood strong -- “La Vernia Strong”!

I’m often asked, “What makes living in La Vernia unique from other small towns?” My answer is, no matter what takes place, this community comes together in the wake of any tragic event like none I have ever seen!

Yes, we will never forget this year; I can only hope that we get stronger because of it, and make sure we help our family, friends, and neighbors that are in need. We have resources available, so if you know of anyone that is in need of help, please reach out to me!

One organization I’d like to highlight is the La Vernia Food Pantry, supported by the La Vernia Ministerial Alliance. With your donations of food and gifts, think of the difference you will make in a child’s life, when they have presents to open on Christmas morning, and the feast they will enjoy with their family. This time of year, more than ever, your donations really can make a huge difference in a family’s Christmas experience!

As I look out over my snow-covered back yard writing this article, I know the time has come to look for other challenges in my life; therefore, I will not be running for mayor this coming May. It has been an honor and privilege serving you and this community.

This job has given me a totally different perspective for sure! I want to thank all of the staff at City Hall for all of their hard work, and helping me look like I know what I’m talking about! They are great people and I’m really going to miss working with them! But, we still have a lot of work ahead of us between now and then, so know that we are on it!

Have a safe and joyous holiday season and Happy New Year!

Till next time, God Bless!
