Attend EMS town-hall meeting Jan. 25

Area residents and taxpayers are invited to a town-hall-style meeting Thursday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. at La Vernia City Hall, hosted by La Vernia Mayor Robert Gregory and Wilson County Pct. 3 Commissioner Ernest “Skip” Hajek, who will discuss options for emergency medical services to La Vernia and the surrounding area.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

The two will take questions and provide information on a number of options to the community. The county ended its contract with the La Vernia Volunteer Ambulance Service (La Vernia EMS) last November. Currently, Stockdale-based District 3 EMS is covering the former La Vernia EMS area.

Some options include:

• Annexation into the District 3 service area, supported by an ad valorem (property) tax

• Voting to establish a La Vernia-area emergency services district for EMS provision, supported by property taxes

• Reviving the La Vernia EMS

• Contracting with another provider.

For information, call Hajek at 830-534-9859.
