Illiterate grads, Dreamers, and ethics

“Illiterates, no-shows, all seniors graduate at DC high”

Between the Lines

This outrage was discovered by WAMU radio and NPR after they began investigating how one of the lowest-performing schools now had a 100-percent graduation rate. Further investigation by NPR also revealed that the graduates applied -- and were accepted -- to college.

This is a disservice to those students, some of whom could hardly read or write. These students were sent out into the world guaranteed to fail, while Ballou High School received national recognition for its phenomenal achievement. That is, until NPR began its investigation.

“As [we] recently chronicled, 45 years of virtually unlimited abortion has resulted in well over a million abortions.”

Between the Lines

Most Americans just choose to ignore this inconvenient fact. Most, that is, except those in two diverse camps. There are the fanatics who don pink vagina costumes and shout hysterically in public marches, and then there are those fervent pro-life supporters who gather and pray in silent, though sometimes public, protests.

This has been going on for 45 years. The major media choose to conveniently ignore the annual Washington, D.C., March For Life that marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision making abortions legal.

This year, President Trump declared Jan. 22 “National Sanctity of Human Life Day” and, for the first time ever, a sitting president of the United States addressed the marchers. Still, the major media chose to glance over the pro-life march and President Trump’s address, in favor of recognizing the pink fanatics.

“Schumer Blinks: Shutdown over DACA Fails”

Between the Lines

This was the shutdown that wasn’t. It lasted only three days. Despite all the dramatics, nothing happened -- and nothing was accomplished.

The debate over the so-called “Dreamers” continues.

“Comey to teach course on ethical leadership for College of William & Mary”

Between the Lines

Considering that Comey is under scrutiny for his actions while at the FBI, one might ask, “Whose ethics will he be teaching?”

“Jimmy Carter: I think the media have been harder on Trump than any other president -- .”

Between the Lines

President Jimmy Carter is one of very few Democrats who is unafraid to break with the party line, and this may be one of the few times that I have agreed with Carter.

“Trump Offers ‘wonderful deal’ for Dreamers; Exposes Democrats’”

Between the Lines

While many conservatives fear this “wonderful deal,” they need not worry. Don’t expect the Dems, who insist on toeing the party line, to support any proposal from Trump.

The fact that it is “unbelievably” good for the Dreamers, does not trump the fact that it was a proposal made by President Trump. This, I suspect, is Trump’s “trump card.”

He is giving the Democrats a choice. Either vote against a proposal that is obviously good for the Dreamers -- or support an idea proposed by President Trump.

The “deals” continue, much to the dismay of those liberals and NeverTrumpsters.
