MAGA " gig’em, President Trump

“The National Hurricane Center now reports that Hurricane Harvey was ‘the most significant tropical cyclone rainfall event in U.S. history,’ -- .”

Between the Lines

Had Wilson County been the recipient of these record rainfalls as it was originally forecast, we would still be suffering as are other parts of South Texas and the Coast. Instead, and thankfully for us, the storm changed its path.

“In a slobberknocker of a matchup, with both offenses looking unstoppable for much of the game, it was ultimately Philadelphia’s defense that made the decisive plays -- .”

For those who watched, it was an exciting and breathtaking game that pitted a replacement quarterback on the Eagles team against the legendary Tom Brady’s machine. This was the first Super Bowl championship for the Eagles while the Patriots were trying for their sixth. The Eagles won Super Bowl LII, 41-33.

As good as the game was, I loved the post-game comments as well. Witnessing Eagles coach Doug Pederson give praises to his “Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” was a grand finale to a super, Super Bowl.

It was even more meaningful to see another chapter in an all-American story unfold as backup quarterback Nick Foles was named MVP. He also gave thanks to his team, his family, and his God. “I am blessed,” he said.

I don’t watch a lot of football games, this one was definitely worth watching. Count me as a new Philadelphia Eagles fan! They fought down to the wire and in the end gave credit where credit is due.

“Trump signs executive order to keep Guantanamo Bay prison open”

Between the Lines

President Trump announced this decision during the State of the Union address Tuesday night. This was in line with what he had said during the campaign, and he wanted the option to lock up enemy combatants if needed.

Former President Obama had attempted to close Guantanamo, and during his eight years had freed some of the enemy combatants being held prisoner.

“President Donald Trump offered a rosy assessment of American life in his first State of the Union address -- but several of his points were factually flawed.”

Between the Lines

With tax cuts on the horizon and a booming economy, who would disagree with that? Very obviously, the Democrats disagreed as they sat stone-faced when Trump made those announcements during his State of the Union speech. They sat on their hands and glared at the cameras, just as they did when he said simply that “Americans can be Dreamers, too.”

“Sunday Takeaway: Even Republicans Agree That The Nunes Memo Does Nothing To Discredit The Russia Investigation”

Between the Lines

All I can assume from this statement is that they must be referring to senators John McCain and maybe Jeff Flake, neither of whom deserve to wear the Republican label.

The DNC claimed the Nunes memo was never about facts, but the truth is, it was all about facts. Unfortunately, the mainstream media are part of the problem. Their “facts” are strictly emotional, as was MSNBC’s Joy Reid’s snarky remark when she tweeted that Trump was going back to the 1950s by praising church, family, police, military, and the National Anthem. That was like Obama’s disdain for those who cling to their guns and their religion.

Count me in on that: I’m one of them, thank you.
