Lawmen seek clues in La Vernia car theft

LA VERNIA The La Vernia Police Department is investigating an auto theft reported March 19 at 6:15 a.m. According to La Vernia police Sgt. Danny Pitts, a woman reported that her 2007 Acura TSX was stolen from her driveway sometime after 9 p.m. the previous evening.

Pitts said the vehicle was recovered in Guadalupe County March 20 at 9 a.m. Items, such as a personal computer and a purse, were missing from the vehicle and three of the four tires were punctured.

Police are again reminding citizens of the importance of locking vehicles, homes, and businesses, particularly with the increase in traffic brought about by the ongoing petrochemical exploration of the Eagle Ford shale.

Anyone with information about the March 19 vehicle theft in La Vernia is asked to call the La Vernia Police Department at 830-253-1198, ext. 1, or Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636).

Word of advice

Sgt. Danny Pitts of the La Vernia Police Department reminds residents to keep valuable items hidden when storing them in vehicles. He also said, “We would also like to remind all drivers to not leave their vehicles idling while they enter stores or establishments. This is another easy target for criminal activity as well as a violation of state law.”

Additionally, Pitts reminded residents that property stored in yards should be stored out of sight.
