Sharing the ultimate gift with others

Have you purchased or made a gift for a family member or a dear friend recently? What did you think of and what went into the decision? Was it a thing that family member needed and you tried to give something to fill that need and also to maybe give a little something extra? Did your gift make the person receiving it extremely excited and thankful? Do you like to give surprise gifts? Or maybe giving a little something when it is not a birthday or an anniversary or any other occasion; just a time to give a gift and share your love with that person?

Let’s think of gifts that we have received. What is a favorite gift from our parents? How about a gift from our spouse that thrilled us and showed his/her love? If you are a parent or a grandparent, what kinds of gifts have you received and cherished? These kinds of gifts show love and are gifts we hold dear.

Going to the scriptures, we can find the greatest gift of all time. It is a gift that we can cherish and hold dear to our hearts forever. Let’s look at the gift from our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

In Romans 5:6 we are told of that gift, “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” What a beautiful gift! A gift completely undeserved but sent in the greatest love possible.

1 John 3:16 tells us that “this is how we know what love is, Jesus Christ laid down His life for us.” And in Galatians 1:4 we read the words of love, “Who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.”

What a gift! Jesus, our Lord, gave Himself on the cross to redeem us. What a gift! We want to always be thankful for His eternal sacrifice that brings us to Him. What a gift!

And we want to share the news of this gift to all. We want our lives to be an example of the joy we feel in living in the “gift” and share that news all the time.

“And they sang a new song: ’You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slain, and with Your blood, You purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation’” (Rev. 5:9).

We want to always sing in thanksgiving to Christ for His sacrifice and spread the word to everyone that He loves us beyond measure. We want to thank Him for the gift of eternal life and share that knowledge always.

Share the gift of Christ’s love.
