Bluebonnet Fest is next week!
The Miss La Vernia 2012 Scholarship Pageant contestants enjoy tea at the Weinert House in Seguin, built in 1895. Destiney Renae Barnhardt (from left), Sarah Wright, Jennifer Skrzycki, Kayla Dawn Gladstone, Anzlie Lowak, and Xanthe Harston, will vie for the crown and title of Miss La Vernia 2012 on Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m. in the La Vernia High School auditorium on Bluebonnet Road (F.M. 775). Miss La Vernia and her court will appear in the Bluebonnet Fest parade Saturday, May 19, beginning at 10 a.m., to kick off the 34th annual La Vernia Bluebonnet Fest, hosted by the La Vernia Lions Club.

Get ready for the start of summer fun, with the La Vernia Lions Club’s 34th annual Bluebonnet Fest, Friday and Saturday, May 18-19.

The annual party takes place in the La Vernia City Park. Admission is free to the festival all weekend.

Carnival fun starts Friday, from 6-11 p.m. Friday festival-goers can enjoy live music from 7-11 p.m. on the park pavilion.

Saturday, the carnival, vendor, and food booths will open at 9 a.m., but the fun really starts with the Bluebonnet Fest parade at 10 a.m.

Follow the parade to the park for festival fun, including carnival games and rides, a free petting zoo, free plants from the San Antonio Water System, a prize drawing, auction, and so much more.

Visit the La Vernia News booth to view the animals featured in the Pet Parade and vote for your favorite. Proceeds will benefit the Wilson County Spay/Neuter Group.

Bluebonnet Fest ends with live music from 7-11 p.m.
