What does peace mean in our lives?

As Paul was writing his message to the church at Thessalonica, he completes his message with the following: “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” (2 Thess. 3:16) What a beautiful message and one that each of us wants to share with those believers that are in our lives and richly bless our daily walk.

Peace: What does that mean in our lives? Paul says that we worship the Lord of peace and we want to always have peace in our lives and share it with others.

Let’s take the word “peace” apart and make a slogan or a possible bumper sticker for each letter.

The “P” could stand for “Purified by God’s love!” Praise the name of the Lord, because of His love and His sacrifice, we are purified and can walk daily with the Lord Jesus Christ. God’s love is unending and we can live in the knowledge of His grace and because of this, we can have peace in our daily lives. And we can claim the promise: “The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.” (Psalm 29:11)

And the “E” might be “Enriched by His Word!” As we look to God’s word and search for peace, we find words to guide our daily lives. In Romans 5:1, we read the following: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” The scriptures give us a list of the fruit of the Spirit and peace is given to us a gift.

How about “A” be an “Accept His way, not our way!” In Psalm 34:14 we are instructed, “Turn from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it.” We want to follow Him and live in accordance with His will and instructions. “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. (Col. 3:15) We want our daily lives to glow for Christ and we want to follow Him in every action, in every deed.

The “C” in peace would bring the slogan, “Christ is our Brother; walk with Him.” In Philippians 4:7, we have the following message, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Our Savior Jesus Christ is our big brother and we want always to strive to life close to Him.

And the final “E” brings us the message, “Eternal Life for Believers.” “Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests’.” (Luke 2:13-14) Because of the Cross and the great love shown by our Savior and our Lord, we can know that there is Eternal Life for all who believe. Believe on Him today.

In Isaiah 26:3, we can claim peace, “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You.” Trust the Lord with your life and claim His promise of peace. Praise His Name!
