God is there, to save you

I do not know of anyone who has not lost something in their lifetime. The item may have insignificant value but yet it meant something for us to classify it as “missing” or “lost”. I have often panicked after discovering I lost something and work feverishly to find the item because it was mine and because it meant something to me.

In Luke 15:4-7, Jesus tells us the parable of a sheep that wandered away from the flock and walked into dangers unknown. When a sheep strays from the flock, death is certain unless it is rescued. The sheep can no longer find its way on its own. If a sheep can not find the flock, it becomes anxious and will run further away instead of returning to the flock. The parable tells us that the owner knew how many sheep he had and even though they all probably looked alike, he knew one was missing. The owner left the flock and went to find the lost one because every sheep was important to him.

The same is true of every person in this world. Because of Adam and Eve’s neglect and rejection of God’s command, we are all sinners and lost to the world.

God intended for all of us to be His children but those who have not accepted Jesus into their heart are “lost”. If you are a child of God but situations, temptations, neglect or any other number of things have attracted you from the flock then you are “lost” also.

Jesus is like the shepherd and we are like the lost sheep. If we have strayed or just haven’t found our way to Jesus, you can rest assured that God will be there to save you from any situation. He left His kingdom in heaven to die on the cross so that we would be saved but many have neglected His sacrifice. Now is the time to stop running and call out to Him. He is there to scoop us up, love us and forgive our every sin.
