Answers to prayer

Ever wondered why God answers some prayers and not others? We are happy when our prayers are answered but when we don’t get an answer we pray again and again and then we get upset with God because surely, He should answer every prayer. We take God for granted and expect Him to answer our prayers at the snap of our fingers even if we don’t have a relationship with Him.

God knows our needs even before we come to Him in prayer but it is necessary for us to develop a relationship with Him through prayer and by reading His word, the Bible. When you need something you just don’t stop a stranger and ask them to give you what you need. You go to someone you know well enough to ask for help. You know that a true friend will give you what you need or at least tell you why they can’t help. God is more than a friend, He is our creator and He knows what we need before we even ask. It is His will that we prosper according to His word.

We know He knows our needs but how can we expect Him to answer our prayers when we don’t “know” Him? Psalms 119:2 says: “Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, and that seek Him with the whole heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 also tells us “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” By seeking Him, we develop a relationship with Him. Anyone can develop a relationship with God. All we have to do is ask Jesus to be our God and ask His forgiveness of our sins. We can go directly to the Father and He will hear our plea.

The Bible is God’s written word for our life and we need to read it to find out what God’s will for our life is and what He has already provided for us. When we pray or have need of something, we should pray with scriptures. If we have need of health, we should pray with scriptures dealing with health, if we need finances, there are scriptures dealing with finances also. In fact, there are scriptures in the Bible for every need we might have.

Isaiah 55:10 is a promise from God telling us that as the rain and the snow come down from heaven so is the word of God. It does not return void. God’s word shall accomplish that which He pleases and it shall prosper. Praying God’s word is the answer to many prayers that have not been answered.
