La Vernia-area residents can enjoy an “Evening with Santa” this evening, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
“We are excited about the event being at St. Ann’s this year and Father Stan has been busy preparing his prayer garden for all of us,” said Shannon Kosub, with the event hosts, LV Angels.
Kosub invites everyone, whether young or young at heart, to attend this annual event, which is free and open to everyone.
“It has been brought to my attention that some feel they might be too old for this event,” she said. “However, I don’t think you are ever too old for Christmas. After all, the best gifts around any Christmas tree are the presence of a happy family and friends all wrapped up in the delight of one another.”
So if you haven’t made plans to attend the festivities, there’s still time to head out to St. Ann Catholic Church. Folks will gather to enjoy rides on the “Polar Express” train, watch the movie of the same name on the big outdoor screen, and enjoy hot chocolate and other goodies as everyone awaits the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children can share their Christmas wishes with Santa as they have their photos taken. Sleigh rides will be offered, too.
The LV Angels will distribute new pajamas, undergarments, and throw blankets, as well as gently used coats and jackets, to families in need.
“The secret of the season lies in the soul of everyone,” Kosub said. “It’s about relighting a fire inside our heart, and sharing that flame with those we touch. Sharing that good will and joy are a vital part of finding peace of mind, heart, and soul. ... I, for one, believe in miracles. I believe in magic. I believe in Santa. Most of all, I believe in God. I trust that no matter how old my children get, they will never stop believing in the miracles at Christmas. Join us in standing as a proud ‘community family’ that believes!”
