Hearing on dead Americans a ‘sideshow’

“Obama dismisses Benghazi talking points controversy as a ‘sideshow’

“President Barack Obama on Monday derided the controversy over inter-agency talking points drafted in the wake of last year’s Benghazi attack, saying that charges of a politically motivated cover-up are a ‘sideshow’ and little more than a “political circus. ...

“‘The whole thing defies logic,’ Obama said at a White House event with British Prime Minister David Cameron. ‘And the fact that this whole thing keeps getting churned out, frankly, has a lot to do with political motivations.’”

Between the Lines:

There is a lot here that defies logic and most of it is coming from the White House. They first lied about a video being the cause of the attack in Benghazi, Libya, and then ignored it completely. Definitely smells political here! Think what the families of the four Americans killed must be going through knowing that the last act of their loved ones is now called a sideshow.

“Man tied to human smuggling admits holding pair hostage

“A 22-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a federal smuggling charge for holding two unauthorized immigrants hostage at a South Side house.”

Between the lines:

Does “unauthorized” mean illegal? Would that be the same thing? Just askin’.

“Smoker’s slap lands her in jail

“A California woman who slapped a deputy to get arrested got her wish to go to jail in hopes she can quit smoking.”

Between the Lines:

That’s one smart lady. She knows that people in jail get everything provided while free people have to pay. They get a roof over their heads, food, clothing, healthcare, and even no-smoking programs.

“Rodman to the rescue

“TMZ’s cameras caught up with former basketball star Dennis Rodman, who claimed he would be returning to North Korea and attempt to free arrested American citizen Kenneth Bae. ...

“Bae was arrested in North Korea in November of last year and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for crimes against the government, although it remains unclear what Bae did to incur the wrath of the North Korean officials.”

Between the Lines:

Rodman might be known for his outlandish behavior, so nothing is surprising. Good for him if he can rescue this prisoner, as this present administration doesn’t seem capable of handling anything, especially foreign affairs.

Dallas Morning News:

“Student’s rant brings online fame

“A student delivers an impassioned critique of his teacher as he storms out of class. For most of history, such a kid might be a short-term hero to his classmates.

“But in 2013, Jeff Bliss of Duncanville High School suddenly is a viral example of the world. ... caught it on a cellphone and posted it to YouTube.”

Between the lines:

Communication is a two-way street. It’s a good thing for students to be able to communicate their frustrations to a teacher, but it’s not effective when the teacher is not interested in communicating back. Thus, the young man’s frustration. All his teacher had to say to him was: “Goodbye.” The teacher is reported to be on administrative leave.
