Trusting God

There are so many things that can be said about one subject and we may think, why do they keep talking about casting our cares on God? We already heard that and we already tried that but it didn’t change a thing! That is why we need to study the subject again. We just don’t get it in our human minds what God is able to do.

1 Peter 5:7 tells us to “é cast our cares upon the Lord because He cares about us.” Another translation of the Bible tells us to cast our “anxiety” on the Lord. Truthfully, our cares many times turn into anxiety when we try to handle situations on our own. It would be much easier to just hand them over to God and let Him deal with them but many times we don’t trust God enough.

When we cast our cares on Jesus we half-heartedly give Him our situations or we just give it a try to see if God is going to do something. God doesn’t want us to give it a try. He wants us to do it! He wants us to give Him the problem not to lend Him the problem. That is exactly what we do. We lend Him the problem instead because we want to be in control of the situation especially when we want a problem resolved in a certain manner and by a certain date. When that doesn’t happen, we go right up to God and take our problem back and try to manipulate it our way. Can you imagine how God feels? I would feel offended if someone gave me a job to do and then came and told me they were going to do it themselves. I would think I was incompetent and that I was not trusted.

In Psalms 55:22 God again tells us to “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee; He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Phllippians 4:19 tells: But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Many times we read the first part of the verse about casting our cares and don’t finish the verse. In l Peter 5:7 and Psalms 55:22 God is giving us two good reasons to help us be steadfast. He tells us that He cares about us and He tells us that He will sustain us and will not let the righteous be moved. Philippians 4:19 gives us the promise that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. If we would only standfast and not take the situation back God will take care of us in a way we could never have imagined and bless us on top of that for our casting our trust in Him.

The next time you hand God a situation, arm yourself with God’s armor and remind yourself to not take it back and when you have done all to stand é stand on God’s promises. He will deliver you. Ephesians 6: 11 tells us to: Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil é that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
