Dennis Moehrig helps Dawn Arnold and Emily Douglas of La Vernia with a purchase.

Whatever your livestock feed needs, you can find it at New Berlin Farm & Feed Supply.

Dennis Moehrig opened the doors to his business in March. Located at 115 Old School Road in New Berlin, Dennis offers Livengood feeds, MVP livestock supplements, and more. For those seeking wholesome nutrition for their animals, he carries Hügelland Feed, a non-GMO feed. Through July 31, New Berlin Farm & Feed Supply is offering $2 off bags of All American Senior Balance. Through Aug. 31, Safe Balance Feed is $2 off per bag and $1 off tubes of wormer. Customers have asked if he’ll carry pvc pipe; he also hopes to add trees and shrubs to his product range.

His parents, the late Allen and Jeanette Moehrig, started farming in 1954. They later ran a service station in New Braunfels and then began raising quarter horses. Dennis has been around livestock his whole life.

They raised quarter horses for 45 years, including four champions, such as “Special Effort,” owned by the 6666 Ranch until his death in 2006 the only 2-year-old quarter horse to win the Triple Crown.

His parents were inducted into the Texas Racehorse Hall of Fame in 2012, along with “Special Effort.”

His father was a country and western musician who played local weddings and dance halls. Asked if he inherited his dad’s music skills, Dennis said, “I’m real good at playing the radio!”

Folks visiting New Berlin Farm and Feed Supply can enjoy Dennis’ radio-playing skills while shopping for feed and farm supplies.

“I’ll sit and talk with people,” he said. The welcome includes hot coffee and table where you can sit and enjoy it.

Along with raising livestock, Dennis has raised five daughters and finds himself raising a 3-year-old grandson, too.

“I love him to death,” he said. “It’s a wonderful experience!”

Speaking of experience, visit New Berlin Farm & Feed Supply, where you can experience cozy, friendly shopping at a hometown business just a short drive along F.M. 775 toward Seguin.

Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
