Conquering fear in our life

Fear is an emotion that can cripple and control every area of our life if we let it. We can have fear over a situation and get over it or we can allow it to take root in our lives. I am reminded of a young girl in the old days who walked several blocks to school. There were stray dogs as well as kids up to no good running the streets. As this young child walked to school, it was not unusual to be chased by a dog or to be taunted by a bully up to no good. The daily expectation of the fearful trip impacted the child so much that she would run to school and get sick to her stomach on the way. The repetitive fear was so engrained that she had a difficult time making decisions or taking action when needed for fear of torment.

This illustration is a vivid picture of how the devil is always around the corner waiting for us every day. He starts when we are young and defenseless. The devil doesn’t come as a devil with horns. He comes in situations and sometimes uses people to put ungodly fear in us. If we get beat up daily, the impact will be lifelong, but if we learn to prepare ourselves through prayer and God’s Word before we even leave the house, we will be able to go out with confidence and power ready to rebuke the devil and tell him to leave and never come back when he shows his face. Fear is seldom found in a successful person but it is always found in a person that has difficulties in life. The devil uses fear to keep you from reaching the full potential that God always had in mind for you.

Jesus died on the cross because He loved us so much. By dying on the cross he defeated the devil and He expects us to walk in the same authority. We can walk in victory. 1 John 4:18 says: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” If we replace the word love with Jesus’ name, we find that there is no fear when we trust in Jesus and it is Jesus that casts out fear from our lives. Fear is a torment that keeps us under the devils authority and if we continue in fear and never reach out to Jesus, we will never be complete or made perfect in Jesus. And will continue to walk a defeated life.

The devil uses many tactics to destroy us but God is greater. All we need to do is reach out for the lifeline that God has extended to us. We need to give our fears to God and use God’s Word against the devil.

If you would like to experience freedom from anything that is keeping you from reaching God’s plan for your life, just reach out and accept the Love that He is offering you. Forgive those that have wronged you and decide that fear is not going to control you any longer because Jesus is your Lord.
